Welcome to Wardrobe 101, a series of blog posts that will give you step by step tips and tricks that works for everyday life. You are about to read my second blog post, which is to teach you how to transition your wardrobe into the spring season.
It's officially spring! With these last couple of days being so beautiful, one would think that winter has finally come to an end. Unfortunately due to our weather, we always have to be prepared for a surprise snow storm to arrive even in May. With that being said, it's time for a change in wardrobe.
Before I start, if you haven't read my previous blog Wardrobe 101: Separating by Season
then you might not understand how my wardrobe is organized. If you have then let's get started!!
Throughout my post if you see a ✨- it signifies an important thing to remember while doing the transitioning.
To go from my Cold season to Warm season wardrobe, you don't have to completely redo your closet. Simply we will remove some bulky layers as Winter has ended to welcome in some lightweight layers embracing the new season of Spring. Today I will be sharing all my tips on how I transitioned my wardrobe from Cold to Cold/Warm.
How To Transition
Now this process doesn't have to be complicated. Keep things simple and sensible when removing the Cold season clothing. Spring is all about light pastels, florals and neutrals.
Remove all the Cold season clothing that are extremely bulky and all the dark colors. But keeping your staples and all year round pieces. I will also be including some ideas on how to pair Winter color pieces with Spring ones to help with the transition.
Winter pieces, Pairing the right way

Spring is the perfect time of the year where you can begin to use your Winter pieces in new ways.
Basic winter pieces that you can wear as spring transitional outfits can be white jeans with a trench coat, a leather jacket paired with a floral dress or cardigans over jeans and a silky tank or dress.
✨It is very important to understand how to do this transition appropriately. Swap a piece or two and mix it all so everything looks balanced. Keep this step in mind as we move along.
Light Layering

This is crucial for transitioning any wardrobe into spring. This section includes: lighter sweaters, cardigans and lighter knits.
Some great combinations of these pieces can be a lighter knit sweater with a flowy skirt, a blazer or thin wool coat as a lighter layering piece than a winter coat over jeans.
✨ Layering lightweight items is key when it can be winter cold in the mornings and summer warm in the afternoon. It is a simple trick to be able to peel away the layers throughout the day but add them back if need be.
Spring Color Palette

To make any outfit feel spring ready, make sure to choose lighter hues to make an effortless look. Although if its still wintery like it is here, you don't have to commit to spring 100%. But swapping out some strong winter pieces can help any outfit feel more ready for the new season.
Simple changes can include wearing lighter or coloured jeans with a pastel top instead of a dark wash.
✨ Spring is all about light and bright with pastels, florals and neutrals.
Booties, Skirts & Dresses

One of the most perfect combos for spring transitional outfits is pairing ankle booties with skirts and dresses. If it's cooler, you can also add a cardigan, blazer or lighter wool coat. Just keep in mind you are wanting to obtain a spring look.
